Behold ... Another Blog

Hello, my name is Stephen and this is my shiny new blog.

I have long since been passive aggressive about people and their blogs. At one point, I went so far as to say ... I hate blogs. I never thought I would be launching one or reading the ones I do. They seemed too self interested. Maybe I was wrong.

All that to say ... what I once wrote off as a self-obsorbed hobby is now something I see great value in. This blog will be about design, or some facet of it. The beauty of design is that it relates to everything. So don't expect to read entries about new PS tools or drop-shadow techniques ... I'm more interested in the broad picture ... design equity, icons of my childhood, design trends, typography, how to make a living as a designer and the like.

If it weren't for design (and the money it reaps) I'd be gallivanting around the country hiking, cycling, and kayaking. Sometimes I forget that design, in a lot of ways, can be just another job. It is what you make of it. There are utopia days and there are sweat-shop days ... all in all, design makes me happy.

This is what I am expecting.

Some day you will look back on this and say "I can not believe I did that, why didn't I do it this way or that way." We continue to improve with age. Need to expand on your hobby and the other love in your life The Orbea. However I want no photos of my back side as I leave you in the dust my man. Remember my slogan; Keep moving forward!. Stephen wrote: Thanks for the advice Kevin. Although "Moving Forward" is Toyota's slogan ... I'll consider it yours as well : ] .... Looking back on many of these projects, I would have done most of them differently ... by different I mean better. If you look back at anything and you can't track improvement then there is a problem. Like cycling ... I did 27 miles of hill climbing on Monday and another 20 mile joyride on Tuesday. 6 months ago that would have never happened. 6 months from now ... who knows. (04.03.2008 @ 06:21PM)
Charles Dillon wrote: I very much enjoy your web site. I was reading your page Words and I came across "...but I'd like to think one day I will teach other designers, operate my own design company, and eventually retire (One of the three is a pipe-dream)." I don't believe either of those can be considered a "pipe dream". If any one is to understand it would be someone such as yourself a designer. If you can dream or conceptualize it you can do it.
